Meeting Aaron Bondaroff, aNYthing Fall 2011 Launch Party
I have to apologise for my lack of posts over the last few days. I have been chartering the labyrinth that is the London underground from one meeting to another not to mention a concert thrown in but the highlight of the trip has to be meeting Aaron Bondaroff at the aNYthing Fall 2011 Launch Party at FootPatrol on 80 Berwick Street in London. Ping went my iPad with an invitation for the event earlier in the week. Could this be true? I said to myself an event at exactly the same time that i was in London.. A few frantic last minute shuffles later I extended my stay for another night, charged up my camera and headed down to the store. Being my first event i had no idea what to expect. As i walked around the corner I saw a huge crowd gathered outside. I thought to myself. Surely it's a nightclub of some sorts? Actually it was the store.. Music was provided by DJ Physical Therapy with drinks courtesy of Havana Club Rum, Kopparberg Premium Cider and Vitamin Water. aNYthing's fall 2011 line was on display too in all its glory. I particularly liked the main display in the store which looked like meshed gym lockers held shut by carabiners. A yellow hat gleaming away from inside.
I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Aaron Bondaroff who happened to be at the event. Me? I asked as I was hushed towards where he was stood. For those of you who do not know him Aaron or A-Ron as he is known is the founder of aNYthing. To him the brand was all about living and breathing the streets of New York. "One day runs into the next—and as demented as it might sound to an average person, it's still this freedom that we dream about and live, sometimes, in the city, a paradise island of opportunities."
In the few precious moments that i had with A-Ron he talked about how inspiring he found the british street wear movement to be and how he could feel the passion amongst the community. He also thought it was vital to hold events like these to inspire the generations to come to imprint their own creative stamp. He came across as a man of firm beliefs and an example of how one person can bring about a revolution. I for one was truly inspired. Scroll down below the break for some more images from the night.
