Meeting SK8THING at Jacket Required
I had the good fortune to be invited to the brilliant menswear tradeshow called Jacket Required last sunday. I thought it would be a great opportunity to live blog which turned out to be an absolute delight. Put together by Craig Ford, Andrew Parfitt and Mark Batista it was a haven of menswear for both buyers and members of the press. As I was typing away on my MacBook I heard that SK8THING the artist behind all the graphics for Pharrell's Billionaire Boys Club/Ice-Cream and A Bathing Ape by NIGO® was going to be there. Being showcased at the event was SK8THING'S own brand C.E. I didn't know what to expect. I've been a huge fan of his work for quiet some time now and meeting him in person would be a dream come true. Dressed in Human Made jeans and seakers there he was. I wasn't even sure if I could speak to him. But I gained the courage to say hello and tell him I was a huge fan of his work along with how groundbreaking I thought Human Made and C.E were and he was so humble its untrue. Our conversations then progressed to talking about what inspired him to which he answered Old Italian films as he pointed to a MacBook Air that had clips from the aforementioned movies playing on loop. Conversations then progressed to our favourite artists KAWS and Takashi Murakami. I even got a chance to show him some of my art work. He even thanked me for featuring his work on my blog which I found both humbling and inspirational! After a quick introduction to his beautiful wife it was time to return to the MacBook and belt a few more posts out but I managed to get a few shots of him all by himself and Craig Ford, one of the founders of the event. I cannot wait to write about C.E and share the pictures from the day with you.
