Sony Handycam HDR-PJ50 Camcorder
Many moons ago i used to work for Sony, primarily through college where i developed a fondness for the brand, you have to admit during the 80s and most of the 90s they were the top dog when it came to consumer electronics. After all they did revolutionise the portable music player with the Walkman before the iPod came along and i still know a few people who swear by their Trinitron Tvs. As powerful as smartphone optics get these days theres certain limitations when it comes to sensor size on a smartphone camera. There just isnt a way that it can capture enough light than a larger sensor equipped device. Sonys new Handycam called the HDR-PJ50 allows the user to record in 1080p on the 220GB hard drive thats included but what makes it truly stand out is the built in projector on the back of its LCD. allowing projections up to 60-inches at a distance of 3 meters in a dark environment. It might not be the first of its kind but its the only one on the market that can project an image in 1080p. It also features a Sony G 30mm lens, 12x optical zoom and 160x digital zoom. It can also shoot 7.1 megapixel stills. I wonder if you can plug an external source into it and use it as a projector on the go too?? It retails at approx $1,350 USD.
