Apple has just taken the wraps off the next generation iPad called the iPad 2 which features an all new 1GHz dual core A5 chip. It also features dual camera's which is no surprise. A slimmer profile, unchanged battery life, an enlarged speaker grill among other things. The rear camera is capable of recording 720p HD video at 30fps along with 5x digital zoom. Apple introduced a new host of iPad specific Apps ranging from FaceTime, PhotoBooth, iMovie and Garageband. It will also ship with iOS 4.3 from day one which shall also be available for the iPhone 4 and will enable the internet hotspot feature that we have seen in Verizon iPhone 4's. New accessories also include a rather nifty magnetic cover that attaches itself to the iPad and folds over like a Toblerone tube to let you use the iPad at different angles. A new HDMI cable enables you to connect it to your HDTV and mirror the iPad's screen and display all your movies, music video's and photographs. The screen resolution has been retained. I'd imagine the cost would go through the roof if they upgraded that to a higher resolution. There was no mention of an updated version of MobileMe as most people expected. Was overall an evolution than an overhaul. I have to admit I am a bit dissapointed and think the new design will not be everyone's cup of tea but I have no doubt that the iPad 2 will sell in huge numbers when it goes on sale on the 11th of March. Especially since it will be available in both black and white from day one! Will you be buying an iPad 2 or upgrading your first generation device. Feel free to comment below and let us know..
